GALLIUM
- Gallium is a chemical element with the symbol Ga and atomic number 31. Its atomic mass is 69.723 u. Gallium has similar properties as aluminum and indium. As a soft, silvery metal with a melting point of only 29.76°C, Gallium is in liquid state under room temperature.
Gallium, like indium, is a key element in industry. Its compounds can be used as semiconductor substrates. For example, gallium arsenide is widely used in microwave circuit, high-speed circuit, IR circuit and other components. Additionally, in the trend towards higher resolution of flat-panel displays, metal oxides containing indium and gallium become the best materials for transistor channel due to high electron mobility. Gallium nitride and indium gallium nitride are used to make blue and violet light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and laser diodes (LDs).
SOLAR provides IGZO and other gallium-containing metal oxide targets as well as CuGa alloy targets for CIGS solar cells. We also offer recycling and refining services for spent targets and scraps of gallium arsenide and gallium nitride to form a closed-loop of the gallium element.
